This is the actual route I’ve taken so far. I am sure it is possible to put as many points and as many lines on a single map, but I didn’t manage, so I divided the map per country or area:
04-09-2013/21-12-2013 approx. 5500 km
Central Asia: Ashgabat-Korgas
05-05-2013/04-09-2013 approx. 5000 km
Iran: Urmia- Bagjirand
10-03-2013/05-05-2013 approx. 2700 km
02-01-2013/09-03-2013 approx. 2000 km
East Europe: Bologna Istanbul
01-11-2012/02-01-2013 approx. 2880 km
And this was the original idea:
Given that it doesn’t really make sense to make a plan, that’s mine.
The idea is to start in my hometown, Bologna and to ride up to Sydney. Getting to Australia is however very unlikely to happen, but it doesn’t really matter.
The idea is to first get to Istanbul via East Europe (it might be following the Danube, it might be along the Adriatic coast, most likely a combination of the two). From Istanbul I’ll keep going East, I’ll enter Iran (mid/end of March?) and I’d like to spend some time in Iran. I will then enter the Stans via Turkmenistan, and then Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan (possible detour in Tajikistan?). From there I will try to enter China, with a perfect timing to experience the heat in the Taklamakan desert. China is big, but I don’t have a route through it, I have time to work that out I suppose… After that it comes south-East Asia, not planned yet.
A VERY rough map would be:
Have you been there? Do you have any suggestions about the country I plan to visit? Send me an Email , or leave a comment
